Lithographic Printing
What is Lithographic Printing
Lithographic printing is a method of printing originally based on the immiscibility of oil and water. It was invented in 1796 by Alois Senefelder as a cheap method of publishing theatrical works. Lithography can be used to print text or artwork onto paper or other suitable material.
Lithographic printing allows for smooth printing and eliminates many characteristics of letterpress printing such as the serrated edges.

How Does Lithographic Printing Work
Lithography is based on the basic principle that oil and water do not mix.
Pre-press printing includes all the steps involved in getting the printing plates ready to be mounted on the press.
Ink is not applied directly from the printing plate to the substrate. Ink is applied to the printing plate to form the image and then transferred to a rubber blanket. The image is then transferred from the blanket to the substrate to produce the printed product.
